06/01/2007 - Greens of Rock Hill: Big plans in Store for Former Celanese Complex
Some two years after textile workers walked away from their shifts for the last time, the old Celanese plant on Cherry Road is on the verge of a $600 million transformation. A team of developers plans to turn the site into the largest industrial park in the Charlotte region and a shopping center comparable in size to Carolina Place Mall in Pineville, N.C. The group presented its vision to Rock Hill leaders Monday night, saying construction will begin as soon an agreement is reached with the City Council by this fall. Called River Falls, the complex will take 10 to 15 years to complete. Plans include:
