According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, a Brownfield is a property that is environmentally contaminated -- or perceived to be contaminated -- and now vacant, abandoned, idle, or underutilized due to the real or perceived contamination. By initiating a Pollution Risk Services Comprehensive Liability Transfer Agreement (CLTA), Brownfield property sites are able to be remediated, returned to regulatory compliance, and redeveloped, all with no risk to the property owner. In addition, Pollution Risk Services can set a firm fixed price so that the owner of the Brownfield knows the exact cost and length of remediation before work begins. Cost overruns are avoided and redevelopment proceeds on schedule and budget. Though the rules and regulations surrounding Brownfield remediation and redevelopment are often cumbersome, Pollution Risk Services has the necessary experience to efficiently and effectively navigate the obstacles to bring your remediation and redevelopment project to a successful conclusion. Once returned to compliance, Pollution Risk Services can redevelop the property, returning the site to economic and community usefulness.
