Project Engineer Provide technical and engineering support to Project Manager(s) and Project Director for on- and offsite project activities through preparation of drawings, calculations, and project documents. Assist Project Manager(s) to ensure timely, cost-effective project completion.
TYPICAL DUTIES
1. Manage project engineering functions/activities and support overall project schedule(s).
- Ensure proposed and progressing project engineering activities comply with: company, client/contract requirements, regulatory standards
- Prepare relevant drawings, calculations, and accurate/concise documents for submittal to Project Manager(s).
- Independently research relevant technical data to minimize project cost and maximize efficiency and quality.
2. Provide technical support for project(s) effort including participation in:
- Project planning and design
- Interpretation of design
- Application of engineering methods
- Resolution and documentation of design procedures and design conflicts
- Project reviews
3. Assist Project Manager(s) in monitoring and controlling project sites to ensure project is progressing on schedule and within budget.
- Furnish project engineering documentation.
- Design features of remediation project.
- Assist in the investigation of potentially serious situations and implementation of corrective measures.
4. Implement and administer project engineering procedures and other controlling documents.
5. Represent Pollution Risk Services, project, and department during A/E, client, and project management meetings.
- Prepare and present engineering drawings, calculations, and documents.
- Provide technical/engineering advice as necessary.
6. Interface all on-site departments as required to resolve problems, ensure quality of engineering/construction, and support overall project(s) schedule, etc.
- Review relevant data to minimize costs and maximize project efficiency.
7. Assume additional responsibilities and perform additional assignments as directed by Project Director and Project Managers.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Educational and experience requirements include:
- 4 year Civil Engineering degree or equivalent, preferably with a strong environmental/geological background.
- 1 - 5 years engineering experience a must.
- Knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management a plus.
- Knowledge of EPA and other environmental regulations/processes a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of Autocad, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
- Must be able to apply innovative and effective engineering techniques to maximize project performance.
- Must be willing to gain an understanding of corporate, governmental, and industry practices, processes, standards, regulations, etc. and their impact on project activities.
- Good communication, interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.), and organizational skills essential.
